She was flying her kite 
one blustery day,
when a gust of wind grabbed Kate and blew her away.
 
 

She sailed over fields 
and she soared over trees,
bobbing along 
on a westerly breeze.
 
 

Folks started to gather 
from far and from wide,
to witness Katie's 
wild aerial ride.
 
 

They wondered if 
she would ever come down,
as her kite glided over 
each hamlet and town.
 
 

Kate's ongoing flight 
made the late news at ten,
who sold the kite footage 
to CNN.
 
 

Soon Kate and her kite 
were on all the talk shows.
(How cameras got up there
nobody knows.)
 
 

And the story of Katie 
the kite flying girl,
was sent via satellite 
all 'round the world.
 
 

But, as Kate 
cruised the atmosphere 
day after day,
the crowds and reporters 
faded away.
 
 

Now, rumor had it 
she sailed into space,
or touched down 
on an island 
or in a far foreign place. 
 
 

But, I happen to know
that Kate found a town,
where instead of gawking, 
the folks helped her down!
